How do I look at my Website statistics?
1. Log into the control panel.
2. Under Stats
3. Click on Awstats Stats
At the top of the page you have the ability to select the month
and year.
Under the heading of Summary:
1. Unique Visitors: This column shows the number of unique computers
that have viewed your site for that month. It shows a “unique”
visitor. Basically, every computer has its own IP address and
that is what this statistical program keeps track of when it counts.
2. Number of Visits: This is the number of visits your site has
had during the month. Note that the program automatically divides
the number of visits by unique visitors to see to show you how
many times a viewer comes back to your site during the month.
3. Pages: This is the number of pages that have been viewed during
the month. It also calculates the number of pages that are viewed,
on average per visit.
Under Monthly History, there is a summary of all of the months
for the current year.
Other Definitions:
Hit - A hit is simply any request to the web server for any type
of file. This can be an HTML page, an image (jpeg, gif, png, etc.),
a sound clip, a cgi script, and many other file types. An HTML
page can account for several hits: the page itself, each image
on the page, and any embedded sound or video clips. Therefore,
the number of hits a website receives is not a valid popularity
gauge, but rather is an indication of server use and loading.
Keyword - A keyword is a database index entry that identifies
a specific record or document. Keyword searching is the most common
form of text search on the web. Most search engines do their text
query and retrieval using keywords. Unless the author of the web
document specifies the keywords for their document (this is possible
by using meta tags), it's up to the search engine to determine
them. Essentially, this means that search engines pull out and
index words that are believed to be significant. Words that are
mentioned towards the top of a document and words that are repeated
several times throughout the document are more likely to be deemed
important.
Pageview - A page is defined as any file or content delivered
by a web server that would generally be considered a web document.
This includes HTML pages (.html, .htm, .shtml), script-generated
pages (.cgi, .asp, .cfm, etc.), and plain-text pages. It also
includes sound files (.wav, .aiff, etc.), video files (.mov, etc.),
and other non-document files. Only image files (.jpeg, .gif, .png),
javascript (.js) and style sheets (.css) are excluded from this
definition. Each time a file defined as a page is served, a pageview
is registered by Urchin.
Referrer - The URL of an HTML page that refers visitors to a
site.
*A note about search engine placement: Search engine placement
is not an exact science. The position your site has on a search
engine can go up and down every month for a number of reasons.
To obtain and maintain high rankings in search engines is a time
consuming proposition.
If we developed your website, it was done using techniques and
strategies that made your website search engine friendly.
